Vodacom Debuts Amazon Prime Perks

Vodacom and Amazon South Africa have partnered to offer benefits to customers through Amazon Prime in an all-in-one membership offering.

All Vodacom RED Core, RED Flexi, and RED VIP customers are eligible for Amazon Prime, while customers who sign up for a Home Internet, Mobile Broadband or Fibre plan will be eligible for Amazon Prime from August 2026 onwards.

The company said in a statement that Vodacom customers in South Africa will get an experience beyond streaming. This includes gaining access to benefits like unlimited movies and series and Amazon Originals through Prime Video; exclusive deals and discounts on thousands of items; early access to special deals and deal events; fast and free delivery (same day, next day delivery) in major cities; as well as free gaming and a Twitch channel subscription through Amazon Luna.

Rishaad Tayob, Director of Consumer Business at Vodacom South Africa says: “The partnership positions Vodacom as a holistic digital lifestyle provider, going beyond connectivity, offering meaningful everyday benefits that add real value to our customers’ lives”.

“Notably, the launch of Amazon Prime comes as South African consumers continue to look for increased value in response to persistent economic pressures and the rising cost of living”, added Tayob.

RED Flexi customers will receive a free three-month trial to Amazon Prime, while RED Core customers will receive a 12-month trial. Customers who wish to continue with the subscription will thereafter be billed monthly at R59 per month.

RED VIP, Home Internet and Fibre customers will receive free lifetime access. This is subject to the availability of the service and for as long as the customer remains eligible.

All Vodacom prepaid customers can sign up to Amazon Prime and pay using their airtime.

Vodacom introduced Prime Video in 2020 and Prime Video Mobile Edition in 2022, becoming the first mobile operator to launch Prime Video Mobile Edition in South Africa and making this Amazon benefit available to all Vodacom customers.
