The Instax Mini Link 2 portable smartphone printer has been announced, an update to 2019’s Mini Link. Just like the original, it is a portable Bluetooth enabled printer that let you easily pair with an Android or iPhone and print photos within seconds, 15 to be exact. It features a tonal striped texture, available in blue, white or pink in South Africa.
It is the first Instax model to feature the new InstaxAIR, an augmented reality effect that works with the Link 2 app.
InstaxAIR will allow users to add graphics to prints, such as bubbles, petals, neons, spray paint or a glitter look. The company describes it as simply holding the Mini Link 2 printer, pressing the feature button on top, and aiming the side LED to draw in the air, what is drawn will then appear on the print preview in-app.
The app supports many design elements that can be placed onto your photos for a unique printout, including drawing with your finger, select filters or manually adjust brightness, contrast or saturation. It also prints collages.
The Mini Link 2 will work with smartphones, as as well as the FujiFilm X-S10 mirrorless digital camera so photographers can send images directly to it. Other Fujifilm digital cameras can use the Fujifilm Camera Remote all to transfer images directly to the Link 2 app to print.
The Mini Link 2 uses the Instax Mini credit-card sized film, available separately. But accompanying the launch of the Mini Link 2, a new Spray Art film will be available, featuring colourful rainbow sprays.
The Instax Mini Link 2 will arrive at the end of August 2022 and will retail for R2799 and the new film will retail for R180 for a pack.
