Pure Electric scooters launch in South Africa

Pure Electric scooters is now officially available in South Africa, starting at R8 999.

Pure Electric

It is positioned as expanding access to a “new category of personal mobility”, such as taking a quick trip to the shops or a short ride across a residential estate.

Exclusively distributed by the Core Group in South Africa, the company was founded in 2018 by entrepreneur Adam Norris, father of Formula One champion Lando Norris.

It is no surprise that Pure Electric scooters will offer a premium line of electric scooters in partnership with McLaren.

The company says unlike traditional scooters that are designed around compactness first, Pure Electric focused on how people ride.

“One of the defining features of the range is its forward-facing riding position. Riders stand with their feet apart while facing forward, creating a more natural stance that improves stability and comfort,” it says.

The design helps riders feel more balanced and in control, particularly during everyday travel through urban environments, adds the company.

The Flex scooter has a foldable frame for easy storage, like in car boot or the office.

Pure Electric is aiming to appeal to consumers from students to early adopters, technology enthusiasts, families and motorsport fans, through the McLaren partnership.

The electric scooters are available on the Pure Electric website directly and through selected retail partners. There will be availability for local servicing and repairs with genuine parts, which the Core Group says is a key differentiator for the brand.

Pure Electric scooters’ range is across various line-ups, like the Air⁵, Escape+, Flex and Pure x McLaren. The lineup comprises of the following, based on what’s available on the website right now:
