Asus Republic of Gamers have announced their newest lineup, the Asus ROG Phone 6 and 6 Pro gaming smartphones and they’re heading to South Africa.
These monstrous gaming smartphones are powered by the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor (up to 3.2GHz CPU clock speeds), up to 18GB of RAM (yes, really), 512GB of storage and a 6000mAh battery. It has a GameCool 6 cooling system for 360-degree cooling for sustained performance.
The ROG Phone 6 series has a 6.78-inch AMOLED HDR10+ display with a 165Hz screen refresh rate, and the display can be set to 60/90/120/144/165Hz for gaming. In terms of sound, it has dual speakers, a 3.5mm audio jack with sound optimised by Dirac. It uses the Dirac Virtuo spatial audio solution and its patented algorithms for immersive sound.
It features a trio of lenses from Sony that is a 50MP main wide angle, 13MP ultrawide, and a macro lens, rounded off with a 12MP selfie cam.
The staggering 6000mAh battery comes with a 65W HyperCharge adaptor for quick charging, and has advanced battery care features for gaming.
The Phone 6 will come in black and white, and RGB lighting on the back, up to 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. The Phone 6 Pro is available only in white and has a colour ROG vision mini-display at the back, 18GB of RAM and 512GB storage.
And for the first time, these gaming handsets will be officially launched in South Africa in September, subject to regulatory approval. Pricing TBA closer to launch. The accessories that were announced alongside the phones will not come to SA.
