Along with the Galaxy Z Flip announcement last night, Samsung unveiled its successor to the S10 flagships, confirming the S20 name we’ve seen online. In addition to the expected S20 and S20+ there was a monstrous S20 Ultra with 108MP camera.

All handsets run Android 10 and support a higher screen refresh rate (120Hz); 5G connectivity but we’re not sure if these models will be available in SA at launch; support more expandable storage; shoot 8K videos; and will run on Samsung’s second-generation One UI. They all support in-screen fingerprint sensors, and are IP68 water resistant.

If you were already confused by the choices Samsung has given consumers over the years, well, there’s another one added to the mix! Here’s a quick look at the three new flagships.

S20 ULTRA

The big daddy of the lineup, the S20 Ultra is a whopping 6.9-inch handset, so not for everyone, size-wise. It features a quad camera setup: 108MP wide-angle, OIS and F1.8 lens (79-degree); a 48MP telephoto with OIS and F3.4 lens (24-degree); and a 12MP ultra-wide angle with F2.2 lens (120-degree); and a Depth Vision camera. The selfie-camera is 40MP.

The advanced camera of the lot features 100x Space Zoom and 10x lossless zoom and has a new Single Take Mode with AI that pulls the best shots from videos, a feature across the S20 range. Samsung was punting the 8K video capabilities that you can connect to an 8K TV.

It is powered by an Exynos 990 processor, has 12-16GB of RAM, 128-512GB storage (expandable up to 1TB), a massive 5000mAh battery, and supports 45W fast charging.

S20+

The S20+ is a 6.7-inch handset that also has four cameras but in different specs. A 64MP telephoto, 12MP wide-angle, 12MP ultra-wide and Depth Vision camera; with a 10MP selfie-cam. It is powered by a Exynos 990 processor, offers 12GB of RAM, 128-512GB storage (expandable up to 1TB), has a 4500mAh battery and 25W charger.

S20

The ‘entry-level’ of the lot, S20 has a smaller 6.2-inch screen but differs from the above two as it only has three cameras. A 64MP telephoto, 12MP wide angle and 12MP ultra-wide angle supported by a 10MP selfie-camera. It still has the 8K video support and Single Take AI capabilities. It is powered by the same Exynos 990 processor, 12GB of RAM, 128GB of storage (expandable up to 1TB) and a 4000mAh battery.

In a nutshell, all come with 128GB base storage, expandable up to 1TB and have the same processor. The S20 Ultra has a bigger screen, battery, top of the range camera and 45W fast charging.
