Spotify has introduced a new Offline Backup feature on its popular music streaming app. Premium users globally can now listen to their music offline without downloads when they lose internet connection.
The music streaming app will automatically create a playlist with these tracks, which the company says “without using an extra data or storage”.
Here’s how it will work:
- All your queued and recently streamed tracks will be used to create one easy-to-access playlist that is unique to you
- Offline Backup will include tracks already stored on your device, as part of your regular listening on Spotify, also known as cache
- The playlist will evolve as you listen, to offer something new all the time.
Offline Backup will appear automatically on your Home feed anytime you’re offline, says Spotify. Just make sure you’ve listened to more than five songs recently and have offline listening enabled. You can find this under “Settings > Data Saving and Offline”, then look for the “Offline Listening” toggle.
You can also add Offline Backup to “Your Library” for easy access.
Make sure you have the latest version of Spotify to access the feature.
