Popular animated series Regular Show is making a comeback on the Cartoon Network globally and in South Africa on Monday, 11 May at 17h20.

It will return as Regular Show: The Lost Tapes, premiering with a thirty-minute special, followed by a batch of five brand-new episodes.
A second batch of five new episodes will premiere the following week on Monday, 18 May at 17h20.
There will be repeats of the new episodes during weekdays at the same time on Cartoon Network Africa on DStv channel 301.
The original show, which ran for a decade, drew an average of 558 000 viewers daily on Cartoon Network Africa, according to the channel.
Content shared on social media in 20206 on platforms like Facebook Reels and YouTube has garnered nearly half a million views. It is also consistently ranked as the Top 5 Coolest Cartoon Shows since 2015 in the Sunday Times GenNext Survey and rose to number 3 in 2025.
Warner Bros. Discovery GM, International Kids, Animation and Franchise Vanessa Brookman says: “Regular Show has always been a cultural lightning bolt, defined by bold humour, unforgettable characters and a distinctive visual style. Its return underscores our commitment to premium animation with global appeal. With Regular Show: The Lost Tapes, JG Quintel and the team honour the original’s legacy while introducing something fresh. We’re excited to bring Mordecai, Rigby and the gang back to audiences worldwide, while welcoming a new generation of fans.”
President, Warner Bros. Animation, Cartoon Network Studios, Hanna-Barbera Studios Europe, Sam Register said: “Thank goodness JG works harder than Mordecai and Rigby, or we might have had to wait another nine years to see these characters again. With Regular Show: The Lost Tapes, JG and his incredible team have delivered the same absurd humour and genuine heart that made Regular Show a classic. We’re excited to welcome fans back to the park.”
Creator and Executive Producer, JG Quintel said: “It’s been so much fun working with everyone on more Regular Show. We’re just making stuff for ourselves and trying to crack each other up. It reminds me a lot of the original run. I can’t wait for everyone to see it.”
What’s new in Regular Show: The Lost Tapes?
According to Cartoon Network Africa, the Regular Show: The Lost Tapes uncovers all-new chaotic escapades of Mordecai and Rigby, the best-friend duo whose attempts to avoid work always spiral into something far bigger (and far stranger) than they intended.
“The new series centres once again on life at the park, where even the simplest tasks, from crashing a friend’s luau to searching for the perfect nap spot, quickly escalate into surreal disasters, much to the frustration of their boss and co-workers. Fans can expect the same off-beat humour, unexpected twists and heartfelt moments that made Regular Show a global favourite.”
Building on that legacy, The Lost Tapes has been crafted to delight long-time fans who grew up with Mordecai and Rigby, while also welcoming a whole new generation into the chaos of the park, adds the network. “It’s a true cross-generational comeback, blending nostalgia with fresh, all-new adventures.”
