The highly anticipated sequel to the Springbok documentary Chasing the Sun, called Chasing the Sun 2 – A Story for South Africa will premier on M-Net on Sunday, 24 March at 8pm, DStv Channel 101.

Chasing the Sun

As with the original documentary, the sequel follows the Springboks’ journey to their fourth Rugby World Cup victory, a historic first for any country. The five-part documentary will offer views front-row seats to never-before-seen footage, says M-Net.

The expansive documentary was filmed in various countries detailing the Springboks’ global journey, including New Zealand, Australia, Argentina, the United Kingdom, Ireland, France, and extensively throughout South Africa.

It included 56 shoot days, interviews with more than 30 players and coaches, insights from pundits and media figures, and combining over 60 hours of interview footage with 30-plus hours of match footage.

M-Net adds that Chasing the Sun 2 is not just a sports documentary – it’s a celebration of South African pride, diversity, determination, and the unyielding spirit of a nation rallying under the banner of ’Stronger Together’.

Marc Jury, CEO of MultiChoice South Africa says this story is bigger than rugby. “It is a reflection of what it means to be South African. It’s a story of hope, unity, and resilience that connects deeply with our nation’s spirit. The decision to feature Chasing the Sun 2 in M-Net’s prestigious movie slot affirms our belief in the power of this story to inspire and unite.”

Chasing the Sun 2 will be available exclusively on DStv Premium and is co-production between SuperSport and SA Rugby.
