FlySafair is turning 12 this year and will once again offer flights on its annual birthday sale for a base fare of R12, but with a twist.

The sale will go live on Wednesday, 6 May exclusively on its website, but given the current spike in jet fuel prices, airport taxes and applicable fuel surcharges will apply above the R12 base fare. Safair has not shared what those costs are.
The sale will go live exclusively on its website flysafair.co.za at 9AM with 50 000 one-way tickets up for grabs at R12 each excluding additional surcharges. It will be valid for domestic flights for travel up to 30 November 2026.
FlySafair explains that the surcharges will be clearly displayed throughout the booking process, in line with its ‘commitment to be transparent’ with upfront pricing.
Just like previous years, the airline will use a virtual waiting room system to ensure a fair process for customers.

“Entry into the booking site is completely randomised, meaning it’s not about who logs in first – it’s all down to luck. Customers are selected by chance and will be given 10 minutes to complete their purchase,” says the airline.
While waiting in the virtual queue, customers can search for flights on the Birthday Fare Finder or play the Flappy Plane game and take part in their competition to win free flights for two people for six months.
While the website will exclusively run the birthday sale, the Flysafair app remains available to customers who wish to make regular bookings. Another option is Flysafair’s Lindi AI via Whatsapp on 087 357 0030.
The airline reminds customers to use its official website flysafair.co.za and its verified channels to avoid scams.
