KnowRoaming launches KR.One travel eSIM

KnowRoaming has launched a new universal travel eSIM called KR.One so travellers don’t have to install a new eSIM every time they go abroad.

Customers who buy a KR.One eSIM just need to activate it once and keep the eSIM profile on their device, thereafter, can add destination-specific data plans through the KnowRoaming app.

The company, founded by South Africans, is now based in North America, and supports over 200 destinations globally, has over 800 partner networks and offers support 24/7.

The KR.One eSIM is available on the KnowRoaming app, both on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.

It works differently than the popular Airalo eSIM offering, which requires customers to download a new eSIM by region or country. According to a media release in June by Airalo, it surpassed 30 million users globally.

Here’s how the unlimited data bundles compare:

Regarding the above rates, KnowRoaming currently has promo rates on their app for unlimited data, with a 3-day offering at $11.99 to be activated by 15 October; 5 days at $17.99 to be activated by 17 October; and 10 days at $35 to be activated by 22 October, etc.

The bundle promo dates vary for each individual bundle, refer to the app for more information on when the bundle should be activated.

Here’s how the fixed data bundles compare:

Michael Roffey, Executive Director at KnowRoaming says travel has become increasingly digital, yet staying connected abroad can still feel unnecessarily complicated.

“Travellers tell us they love the flexibility and savings that eSIMs offer but hate having to install a new one for every trip. It’s frustrating having to scan QR codes at the airport and delete old profiles, while hoping it all works when they land,” explains Roffey.

“With KR.One we’ve removed that friction. You install it once and, for every trip after that, simply add the plan you need. It’s easier, more convenient and can deliver savings of up to 75% compared to traditional roaming. Best of all, it’s the last eSIM you’ll ever install.”
