LG Electronics and Apple have announced seven smart home accessories developed for Apple Home, including indoor and outdoor cameras, a video doorbell, a smart lock, a thermostat and a temperature sensor.

The range is designed to work with Apple’s Home app and Siri, as well as LG’s ThinQ app. The products can be controlled individually or combined into automated routines, such as adjusting the thermostat and changing a camera’s position when activating a morning scene.
The products will launch in the US and Canada from December 2026, with some accessories arriving early next year. Indoor and outdoor cameras and a video doorbell are also scheduled to launch in the UK from December. South African availability and pricing have not been announced.
CAMERAS AND VIDEO DOORBELL
The camera range includes indoor and outdoor models with up to 2.5K video resolution, colour night vision and wide-angle views. They can identify people, pets, vehicles and movement to provide more relevant notifications. Users can also set privacy zones to block selected areas from recording, while built-in local storage offers an alternative to relying entirely on cloud storage.
The LG Indoor Cam Plug-In has a 160-degree field of view and a privacy tilt mechanism that lets users direct the camera away when monitoring is not required.
The LG Outdoor Cam Plug-In is designed for outdoor surveillance, with 2.5K resolution and colour night vision. The LG Floodlight Cam adds two adaptive floodlights that illuminate the surrounding area when activity is detected.

The LG Video Doorbell Wired uses two cameras: a 2.5K front-facing camera and a Full HD camera aimed downwards to capture a wider view of the entrance, including parcels left at the door. It supports two-way communication, colour night vision and detection of people, vehicles, pets and packages. Visitors can trigger a chime through supported Apple Home devices, including HomePod and HomePod mini.
SMART LOCK AND CLIMATE CONTROL
The LG Smart Deadbolt Lock supports hands-free unlocking using Apple home key on compatible iPhones and Apple Watches, with Ultra-Wideband technology used to help recognise an authorised user’s approach. Other unlocking options include NFC, a PIN code and a physical key. Door sensors and app notifications provide updates on its status.

The LG Smart Thermostat can adjust heating and cooling according to whether occupants are home, away or asleep. Apple’s Adaptive Temperature feature is designed to adjust the temperature based on these routines.
Optional LG Temperature Sensors can be placed in different rooms to monitor temperature and humidity, helping the system respond to conditions beyond the thermostat’s immediate location. The thermostat also uses Matter over Thread for connectivity.
In the US, Apple’s Clean Energy Guidance can help schedule heating and cooling around periods when electricity is cleaner. Supported utility integrations can also allow the thermostat to shift usage towards cheaper periods.
APPLE HOME PRIVACY
The accessories are designed to integrate with Apple Home, with end-to-end encryption for camera footage and personal data handled through the Home app.

LG says the system is designed so that home data remains accessible only to the user and people they authorise.
Stay tuned for updates from LG on whether these products will make their way to South Africa.
