FNB wants to help businesses save up to R35 000 a year by offering eBucks Travel discounts on its platforms.

The bank says as business travel expenses keep escalating, it will offer savings for selected domestic, international flights, and domestic car rentals through the FNB app or eBucks Travel website.

The R35 000 discount is available to FNB Business Platinum and FNB Business Enterprise account holders who qualify for up to 40% in eBucks Travel discounts, it says.

FNB’s SME business development head Omelele Mmbo says over the past three years, they’ve seen a resurgence in clients travelling for business-related activities.

With local and international business traveling costs continuing to increase, this expense places additional strain on business cash flow, says Mmbo.

“Therefore, as businesses plan for the year ahead, it is essential to consider their travel needs and maximise on every opportunity to cut costs, such as utilising travel discounts available through eBucks,” says Mmbo.

FNB explains that businesses who hold a Platinum or Enterprise account have the potential to save up to R25 000 and R35 000 a year respectively, which is the total value of discounts they receive annually between 01 July and 30 June.

Mmbo says the eBucks Travel discounts will depend on the reward levels of businesses. The higher the business’ eBucks reward level, the higher their discounts.

Whereas Gold account holders continue to get a 25% discount on Lift Premium flights booked via eBucks Travel until June 2025 and can safely and conveniently book car hire and bus tickets on the FNB App with QuickBus using their eBucks.

Businesses are required to meet a set of criteria based on the specific business accounts they hold, which includes having a specified minimum regular deposit in the account, performing at least one financial or non-financial transaction and ensuring that all accounts are in good standing, explains the bank.

Additionally, the more solutions and products that businesses use to manage their business finances, the higher they will move up reward levels and earn greater discounts, it adds.

Flight discounts apply to selected Domestic airlines in Economy and Business class, and selected international return flights in Economy, Premium Economy, and Business class.

FNB’s travel partners include:

  • Domestic flights: FlySafair, LIFT, Airlink
  • International flights: Air France, KLM, Emirates, and Airlink
  • Domestic car hire: Avis

“eBucks Rewards can play an important role as part of a business’ cash flow management strategy. Depending on a business’ reward level, eBucks can result in significant savings, not only through the discounts offered, but the eBucks earned that can be used in the place of cash to pay for essential business expenses such as fuel, office essentials, electronics, client entertainment and traveling costs, helping them to reduce operating costs,” concludes Mmbo.
