FlySafair will celebrate its ninth birthday with its crazy annual sale of R9 a ticket one-way, including airport taxes. The company announced via a media release that 50 000 seats will be up for grabs soon.

The R9 a ticket sale will be valid for domestic flights only, one-way, including airport taxes. FlySafair said it will make the 50 000 seats available on pre-selected flights across is local network for departure dates between May and November 2023.

Kirby Gordon, chief marketing officer at FlySafair says: “It’s a wonderful opportunity to share our product with people who might not otherwise have the opportunity to fly. This year we are going big with 50 000 tickets which equates to an entire 264 Boeing 737-800 aircraft full of passengers flying for only R9.”

The company has been operating in South Africa since its first flight on 16 October 2014, and now operates over 150 flights a day across all major cities, including connections to Mauritius and Zanzibar.

FlySafair says to date, over 100 000 passengers have bagged seats from anything between R1 and R8 in the past, during its crazy annual sale.

While the exact date has not been revealed, FlySafair says it will take place in the first week of May, with a virtual waiting room and lucky draws every minute like before, to handle the traffic on its site.

“We’d like to apologise in advance to employers across the country for any productivity lost on the sale day,” quipped Gordon.

EDIT: The sale will start on Wednesday, 3 May at 9am.
