adidas Sportswear releases X_PLRBOOST traveller sneaker

Earlier this year, Adidas launched a new sub brand aimed at Gen Z called adidas Sportswear, its first new line in over 50 years. The German brand used Jenna Ortega, star of the Netflix show Wednesday to launch the line, who also fronts its Spring Summer 23 campaign.

Adidas described the new line as a way to “level up the wearer’s everyday look via a range of fresh fits that use the latest performance technology to bring the same comfort and confidence to the everyday,” as its performance collections have been for athletes, for decades.

The company has released a new sneaker under the adidas Sportswear brand for travellers called the X_PLRBOOST, which takes inspiration from its iconic Ultraboost.

The sneaker is described as made with recycled materials, combined with innovative tech and comfort-first features with stylish accents to keep the next generation of explorers supported on the daily beat.

This hybrid sneaker combines technical features with style, has full-length cushioning, and is made for all seasons, while maintaining a neutral design that can be worn daily.

Adidas says with “BOOST defined as one of the most comfortable compounds in the sneaker industry, two pieces are tactically sandwiched between a TPU frame in the midsole to provide additional comfort and responsiveness. Building on the BOOST incorporated in its base, the added molded heel keeps the foot locked in and works with the soft neoprene collar to enable ease and added comfort of slipping the shoe on whenever the moment calls.”

It is made from recycled materials, accentuated by mesh and a combination of textures and colours, featuring a bold pop of colour on the heel, a two-tone rubber outsole and a standout three stripe logo. Adidas says the X_PLRBOOST can be worn for multiple occasions from city exploration during the day, adventures whilst outdoors or kicking back with friends.

The adidas Sportswear X_PLRBOOST is now available at select adidas stores and online at adidas.co.za. Available for both men and women in various neutral shades, the X_PLRBOOST will retail for R3499 a pair.
