OPPO entered the South African market in 2020 but is already making waves with its broad range of devices. Its portfolio includes the foldable Find N series, the high-end Reno Series, and a youthful A Series.
Its latest Reno10 Pro+ 5G aims to capture the premium segment who have high expectations when it comes to photography. Highlights of the Reno10 Pro+ include its 64MP periscope telephoto camera; a 4700mAh battery with 100W SUPERVOOC™ flash charge, and its 8.28mm slim design that weighs 194g.

OPPO says there are more 2.13 million portrait photos taken daily on its Reno smartphones. Thus, the Reno10 Pro+ 5G will focus heavily on Portrait features based on three core principles:
- Reality: capturing every available bit of visual information, even the details, to restore the moment as close as what you see, even in lowlight or over-lit situations like in this portrait.
- Exposure:enables portraits to be captured without space limitation so that no matter how far away or how crowded the environment is, you can always be the main character.
- Emotion:capturing portraits that express the real emotions of the subject. This is what makes a portrait a masterpiece.
Zooming into the OPPO Reno10 Pro Plus
With a 64MP Telephoto Portrait camera combined with the Portrait Expert Engine, the OPPO Reno10 Pro+ 5G enables the highest quality portraits to be captured due to having the largest telephoto lens of any smartphone currently available. All while still compact, with a sleek design that remains visually aesthetic and artfully appealing.
“We have worked to create the ultimate portrait shooting experience for our users, which comes down to capturing every bit of visual information and real, raw emotion to restore the moment as close as to what you see. No matter the lighting or how far one is, the Reno10 Pro+ 5G is geared to always make the subject of the portrait the main character, even in a crowded environment. It’s the coup de grace that turns a portrait into a masterpiece” ~ Liam Faurie, Head of Go-To-Market and Operations of OPPO South Africa.
The 64MP telephoto portrait camera on Reno10 Pro+ 5G provides a 71 mm equivalent focal length for professional-looking portrait images. Together with its large f/2.5 aperture, 25cm minimum focus distance, and large 1/2″ camera sensor, the telephoto portrait camera creates an unprecedented portrait shooting experience on the Reno10 Pro+ 5G, enabling pro-level portraits to be captured with just a simple click.
Reno10 Pro+ 5G has the highest megapixels of any smartphone with a telephoto camera currently on the market, and the camera is equipped with cutting-edge prime floating OIS for enhanced image stabilisation. Thanks to more pixels, the large sensor, 3x optical zoom, and OPPO’s in-sensor zoom technology, Reno10 Pro+ 5G also offers a second-to-none, ultra-clear 6x zoom with optical quality. Together, these features enable users to capture excellent close-up portrait shots.
Portrait Shots
I’ve been testing a bunch of phones lately between my travels and these are some of my favourite pics from the Reno10 Pro+ 5G. I am obsessed with the AI Colour Portrait where the background is black and white; it allows the subject to stand out even more, but also great for busy places without worrying about removing people from your shot. You can also see how well it executes with the dark hair.

A closer look at the screen
The Reno10 Pro+ 5G has a 1.5K resolution, and combined with its 94% screen-to-body ratio with HDR10+ support, it is certified by both Amazon Prime Video and Netflix, which makes watching multimedia content a superior experience. Its ProXDR Smart Display Control uses a high-precision image recognition algorithm to automatically detect light sources based on RAW image data. ProXDR locally adjusts screen brightness up to eight times in select areas of the image (for example, boosting the brightness of the sky, streetlights in the city, or sunset over a hill), which provides a huge lift in dynamic range and brings you images with incredible expression right in the palm of your hand.
Putting the super in SuperVooc
Oppo is known for its proprietary fast charging called SUPERVOOC. The Reno10 Pro+ 5G has 100W charging, which charges fully from 0% to 100% in a mere 27 minutes. This is great news for load shedding or if you forget to charge your phone. It is also currently one of the fastest-charging smartphones on the market. I don’t even worry about battery life with this phone because even a quick 10-minute charge will provide 50% of battery life from being completely flat.
