With only a few weeks before season six of Drive To Survive (DTS) and less than a month until the first Formula 1 race of the season, I thought this was a good time to persuade fans of the sport to do the right thing.

F1

You see, in the fast-paced world of Formula 1, where split-second decisions and cutting-edge technology dominate, fans demand an immersive and comprehensive viewing experience. The F1 TV app steps into the spotlight, promising to deliver the thrills and spills of every Grand Prix to the palms of your hands. Let’s explore the features, functionalities, and benefits that make the F1 TV app a must-have for motorsport enthusiasts.

User Interface and Navigation

The first impression matters, and the F1 TV app doesn’t disappoint. The user interface is sleek, intuitive, and purpose-built for racing enthusiasts. Navigation is seamless, allowing you to switch between live races, race recaps, and on-demand content effortlessly. The well-organised layout ensures every feature is easily accessible, catering to seasoned fans and newcomers to the world of Formula 1.

Live Race Streaming

At the heart of the F1 TV app is its live race streaming feature. Subscribers gain access to every session of every Grand Prix weekend, from the first practice and the adrenaline-pumping qualifying rounds to the nail-biting main event.

The app provides multiple camera angles and allows you to switch to the global broadcast (usually manned by Martin Brundle and David “Crofty” Croft) rather than the native commentating manned by Alex Jacques and various former racers, often Jolyon Palmer and David Coulthard.

You can also listen in on the team radios of the drivers, follow their progress along the track, and set up your pit wall with live-timing data. This includes tyre usage history, live leaderboard data, and real-time telemetry and allows you to tailor your viewing experience and dive deep into the strategic and technical aspects of the race.

On-Demand Content Library

The F1 TV app isn’t just about live races; it’s a treasure trove of on-demand content. From documentaries, race analysis, and a deep dive into the technical aspects of the cars, the app offers a comprehensive library that caters to the insatiable appetite of Formula 1 enthusiasts. This feature provides a rich educational resource for everyone.

Multi-Platform Accessibility

The F1 TV app recognises the diverse ways in which fans consume content. Whether you prefer watching on your smartphone, tablet, or smart TV, the app ensures a consistent, high-quality viewing experience across multiple platforms. This flexibility enhances the accessibility of Formula 1, enabling fans to stay connected with the action regardless of their location.

Data-Driven Insights

For the tech-savvy fan craving more than just the visual spectacle, the F1 TV app incorporates data-driven insights. Real-time telemetry, driver tracker maps, and in-depth statistics provide a deeper understanding of the race dynamics. This feature enhances the viewing experience and caters to the analytical minds of fans who want to dissect every aspect of the race.

Beyond F1

On weekends when support races accompany F1, you can also tune in to the F2 practice, qualifying, and race sessions. Take a glimpse into F2, F3, F1 Academy, and  Porche Supercup races. You can also watch documentaries created by F1, delving into the sport’s history, focusing on iconic drivers and legends – whether a person, car, or track.

Cost-Effective Subscription Plans

While the F1 TV app offers a premium experience, it’s designed to be inclusive. The app provides various subscription plans, allowing fans to choose the package that best suits their preferences and budget. With options for annual or monthly subscriptions, the F1 TV app ensures that the thrill of Formula 1 is accessible to fans of all backgrounds.

The F1 TV Pro subscription allows you to stream every race live and on-demand and comes in at $59.00 annually. The more basic F1 TV Access plan gives you F1 live timing data, the best team radio and delayed race replays, and the massive Formula 1 archive for $29.99 per year.

I’m on the monthly F1 TV Pro subscription at $4.99 per month. Another reason I love this app is that you can use up to six devices at any time. So I can watch it on my phone, tablet, or laptop, and I’ve got a bestie piggy-backing on my subscription.

The bottom line

Should you subscribe to F1 TV, and if so, which plan? If you’re a hard-core fan, you’re probably already subscribed to F1 TV Pro. If not, it’s not even up for debate – do it!

If you enjoy the sport but are unsure you want to dedicate your entire weekend to the race, go for F1 TV Access.

If you enjoy DTS but are not sure you want to see the real thing and have some context for those dramatic moments, maybe ask an existing subscriber if they will share their logins for a race or two.

It’s super easy to unsubscribe at any time if it turns out not to be your vibe. While I love watching the races live, I don’t use a fraction of the functionality. For me, it’s still worth the five bucks to watch all the sessions as they happen.
