Get Canva Pro with Cell C

If your camera roll is full of half-finished business ideas, social posts waiting to happen, and screenshots labelled “design inspo”, Cell C and Canva have just announced a partnership that might come in handy.

Canva

The two brands have teamed up to make professional creative tools more accessible to South Africans, with eligible Cell C customers able to score three months of Canva Pro at no additional cost.

And this isn’t only aimed at people who spend their days arguing about fonts. The idea is to give more South Africans access to tools that can help with everything from polishing a CV and putting together a portfolio to launching a side hustle, promoting a community project, or building a small business.

SO, WHAT’S THE DEAL?

  • Purchase 5GB Anytime Data for R69
  • From 10 August – 31 October 2026
  • Comes with a 14-day validity
  • Receive 3 months Canva Pro for free

From 10 August to 31 October 2026, Cell C customers who purchase a 5GB Anytime Data Bundle for R69, which comes with 14-day validity, will receive three months of Canva Pro at no additional cost.

The Canva Pro subscription provides access to premium templates, AI-powered design tools, video editing features, brand management functionality, and millions of professional design assets.

That could be particularly useful if your creative ambitions currently extend a little further than your design budget.

Customers can purchase the qualifying bundle through the Cell C App, or by dialling *123# and selecting Perks. Terms and conditions apply.

CREATIVITY WITHOUT THE INTIMIDATING BIT

Canva has made its name by making graphic design considerably less terrifying for people who don’t know their kerning from their cropping.

The platform combines a drag-and-drop interface with templates, a large content library, and AI-powered features. It is used in more than 190 countries by individuals, educators, nonprofits, and businesses.

For South Africans taking advantage of the Cell C offer, that means access to Canva Pro tools including premium content, templates, local language support, and Canva’s Magic Studio AI features.

Bianca Sibiya, Country Manager for Canva South Africa, says the partnership fits with Canva’s goal of making creativity accessible to everyone, particularly in a country filled with entrepreneurial and creative people.

And, really, that’s where this partnership gets interesting.

Connectivity is useful on its own, but what you can do with it is where things start getting exciting. Need a logo for your fledgling cupcake empire? A slick presentation for a pitch? Social media graphics for your side hustle? A video for TikTok? A CV that doesn’t look as though it escaped from Microsoft Word circa 2004?

Those are exactly the everyday creative jobs this partnership is trying to make easier.

CELL C WANTS DATA TO DO MORE THAN JUST KEEP YOU ONLINE

Cell C Chief Marketing Officer Melanie Forbes describes connectivity as being about what it enables, whether that is building a business, creating content, growing a side hustle, or simply bringing an idea to life.

By combining mobile data with access to creative tools, the company wants customers to be able to move more easily from “I have an idea” to “look what I made”.

The partnership has also been designed around something most of us already have within arm’s reach approximately 97% of the day: our phones.

Rather than requiring people to attend a workshop or visit a special location to access the tools, Canva Pro is being incorporated into something eligible customers are already buying and using — mobile data.

THERE’S ALSO A #GENPRO CHALLENGE

Naturally, a Canva collaboration was never going to launch without giving people an excuse to make something.

Canva Africa and Cell C are inviting South Africans to join a social media challenge on Instagram and TikTok, showcasing original designs they have created using Canva.

Participants who tag both brands and use #GenPro will stand a chance to win one of 10 Canva Pro subscriptions valid for a year, along with exclusive Canva Africa merchandise.

So yes, those aggressively colour-coordinated Instagram carousels may finally have their moment.
