Tecno has unveiled its new flagship at MWC Barcelona, the Camon 50 Series, alongside an AI Ecosystem of products. It also announced a partnership with Tonino Lamborghini.
Camon 50 Series
The Camon 50 Series is made up of a trio of handsets, including the flagship Camon 50 Ultra 5G, Camon 50 Pro and Camon 50.
The Ultra is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 7400 chipset, and the 50 Pro and 50 by the MediaTek Helio G200 Ultimate.

As is the case with all phones being released today, the devices are packed with AI computational architecture for things like better low-light photography and portrait shooting thanks to its 50MP Sony LYT 500-700C main sensor featured across the range.
Interestingly, all three devices feature a 6.78-inch 1.5K AMOLED display with a 144Hz scree refresh rate, a 6500mAh battery, dedicated AI key, and an additional 8MP ultra-wide lens.
The Ultra and Pro models feature another 50MP lens with 3x optical zoom while the Ultra only has a 50MP selfie camera. However, both the Pro and base 50 have a 32MP selfie camera.
AI features on the camera includes things like AI reflection, shadow and flare remover, 3D photospace, Super-Zoom FlashSnap to capture motion pics, AI Auto Zoom, and Live Photos.
Device AI includes an AI Art Gallery, Image-to-Video generator, AI health assistant and the Ella Voice Assistant.
AI Ecosystem
In additional to the Modular Phone concept, Tecno also showed its broader AI-driven Ecosystem, including a range of devices like its Megabook laptops, smart wearables including the True 2 and FreeHear 2 open ear earphones, the Watch GT 1S smartwatch and smart glasses.

It also showcased its Ella AI Assistant, which speaks to its “practical AI vision” that enhances productivity, provides more practical value and offers easier, creative fun, it says.
The company also shared that it processed over 500 million user requests in 2025, including 100 million image-processing tasks and that more than half of all interactions were conducted in non-English languages.
It services mostly emerging markets and adds that it will continue to “invest in localisation at both language and cultural levels, deeper integration with local digital ecosystems, and areas where AI can create significant social impact – including health and education.”
The AI Glasses Pro has a micro-LED display visible on the inside of the lenses, powered by its AI assistant, which can also offer real-time translation and AI navigation. It has a small 250mAh battery and weighs 48g.

Tecno did not share technical specs for the cameras on the glasses, but it reminded me of the Oppo AirGlass 2 I saw at MWC in 2023.
The company also showcased its AI ecosystem in various scenarios at its booth at MWC, like AI for Work using translation features and voice clone for 170+ languages. This includes mixed Hindi-English recognition and support for standard Arabic and the Iraqi dialect thanks to regional partners.
It also showcased AI for health by scanning a visitor’s face and displaying results after a few minutes like blood pressure, blood oxygen, heart rate, breath, HRV and stress, which admittedly I am sceptical of since I wear trackers with sensors that touch my body to detect what it thinks is closes to my actual readings.
Separately, while I was at the Tecno stand, I also spotted this cool demonstration of underwater charging using waterproof cables, which was just for display. Tecno put a disclaimer not to try it at home. As for underwater photography, we’ve seen it with a bunch of other brands. It’s great to see a brand like Tecno, who is big in emerging markets, potentially offer these features.

Tecno x Tonino Lamborghini
Tecno announced a partnership with Italian lifestyle brand Tonino Lamborghini by showing off a collection of co-created devices in the line-up. It will feature exclusive design elements from the Tonino Lamborghini brand such as red and black colourways.
The co-branded devices will include gaming devices, smartphones, laptops, earphones and tablets, which ties into Tecno’s smart ecosystem.

The Tecno Pova Metal Tonino Lamborghini Limited Edition smartphone is a full metal unibody 5G device, which the company says is a world first. It has a 0.99m thin bezel, and a rear LED matrix panel showing design elements, which can be personalised to show call alerts, notifications, and other dynamic visuals.
The Taurus Mega Mini G1 Pro is its second-generation mini water-cooling gaming PC with RGB lights that highlights the design and colour. It runs on an Intel Core i9 processor with 14 cores, including an Nvidia GeForce RTX 5060 graphics card with 8GB of memory and 145W of graphics power, based on NVIDIA’s Blackwell architecture, supporting ray tracing, path tracing and AI performance rated at 614 TOPS.
A built-in display shows real-time CPU and GPU performance. Connectivity includes 15 ports, WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.4, with power supplied by a 330W GaN adapter.
Tecno South Africa has not yet confirmed if any of the devices unveiled at MWC Barcelona will be coming to South Africa. Stay tuned for updates.
