Samsung Teases Titanium Foldables and AI Watches

As the tech world focuses on London for next week’s Galaxy Unpacked event, the excitement for Samsung’s mobile innovation is at an all-time high.

Samsung has revealed its latest breakthroughs ahead of the keynote, highlighting its focus on refining the foldable form factor and advancing wearable health.

Flex Titanium: Redefining the Foldable Canvas

Samsung’s new Flex Titanium technology addresses this challenge by integrating a titanium-alloy film and a titanium plate directly into the display structure.

While titanium is known for its strength, its natural stiffness is the opposite of what’s desired in a flexible screen.

How It Works

Samsung has achieved this by using a precise rolling process to create a titanium-alloy film about one-third the thickness of a human hair. This film, beneath the OLED panel, offers 20 times greater mechanical stiffness than previous polymer films.

Beneath the film lies a sophisticated titanium plate with micro-patterned holes added using advanced hole-processing technology. This allows the display to remain rigid when unfolded, minimising the crease, while maintaining elasticity for thousands of folds.

Samsung claims this results in a more refined, seamless viewing experience without sacrificing the device’s slim profile. Combined with new, highly power-efficient organic materials, the display is expected to deliver higher resolutions while consuming less power. For power users, this is the most exciting metric: a better-looking screen that doesn’t drain the battery.

The Wrist-Based AI Revolution

While the foldables are getting a structural overhaul, Samsung’s wearable strategy is shifting toward something far more proactive. The upcoming Galaxy Watch is positioning itself as an “always-on gateway” for personalised AI.

We’ve grown accustomed to wearables that track our steps and sleep, but the narrative coming out of Samsung suggests a transition from passive tracking to intelligent coaching.

Health as an Ecosystem

The teaser suggests that the new Galaxy Watch will act as the primary entry point for a more seamless AI integration.

Powered by upgraded internal components and—crucially—enhanced battery life, the new hardware is designed to support more intensive, AI-driven health analysis.

The goal here is “effortless wellness.” Instead of the user having to dig through dashboards to interpret data, the AI is expected to synthesise health metrics in real-time, offering actionable insights.
