In response to the fuel price increases in South Africa, FNB has announced a new eBucks incentive that rewards customers with R2/L back on fuel purchases from Engen, regardless of eBucks reward level.
If you’re wondering what the “catch” is, you simply have to pay for fuel using a virtual card – these can be loaded onto smartphones, smartwatches and certain fitness trackers. And it will run for a period from 1 July to 30 September.
According to its release, FNB’s qualifying criteria for this benefit is using either an FNB or RMB virtual card, and to complete at least one online virtual card transaction per month at any merchant.
Its separate benefit that allows customers who fill up at Engen and have vehicle repayments with Webank for “Double Up” still applies, where customers earn up to R8/L per quarter in eBucks; these customers will now earn up to R10/L per quarter in eBucks over the next three months.
Virtual cards can be used on Apple Pay, Samsung Pay, Fitbit Pay, Garmin Pay, and FNB Pay (Tap to Pay, Scan to Pay without producing a physical card. In addition to a supported smartphone with NFC, it can be used on wearables like Apple Watch, Galaxy Watch, Fitbit (Sense, Versa 2, Versa 3, Versa SE, Ionic, Charge 3 SE, Charge 4), and Garmin (Vivoactive, Venu, ForeRunner, Instinct, Fenix).
