Audi’s ultra-fast DC chargers are now live in South Africa. This follows an announcement in January about its commitment in investing in up to 150kW ultra-fast DC chargers across the country, in partnership with GridCars.

The 33 new public electric vehicle charging stations expands on the existing infrastructure, which can be used with any EV in SA as they all use a Type 2 connector. A user would just need a GridCars issued charge card to be able to access it.

The new EV charges range between 22kW AC chargers, 80kW DC chargers and four 150kW DC chargers. A quick 30 minute charge on the 150kW DC charger yields up to 340km of range, and are strategically located off highways to make long distance travel easier.

  • N1 – Richmond, Caltex, Northern Cape
  • N2 – The Crags, Engen, Plettenburg Bay, Western Cape
  • N3 – Tugela South, Engen, Kwa-Zulu Natal
  • N4 – Alzu Petroport, Mpumalanga (Audi has upgraded the existing unit from DC 60kW to DC 80kW. GridCars has also installed a new EV charging unit at Kranskop Engen, Limpopo).
