South Africans could all use a little extra right now, and Vodacom is delivering, through its new summer campaign.
Vodacom’s 2025 Extra Your Summer campaign is all about giving customers more value and more chances to win, with over R500 million in prizes and rewards up for grabs.
The star of the show? Vodacom’s best and most competitive data deal ever: 20GB for just R99, available exclusively on the VodaPay app. It is broken down by anytime data, Night Owl and Youtube data allocations.
Rishaad Tayob, Consumer Business Director at Vodacom South Africa says they are acutely aware of the financial strain many South Africans are experiencing.
“This summer, we are going the extra mile to deliver tangible relief through exceptional value. Our R99 20GB deal is transformative for customers who’ve had to cut back on connectivity due to cost pressures. Staying connected shouldn’t be a luxury.”
At a media event in Rosebank on Tuesday 7 October, Tayob explained that this year’s annual summer campaign was beyond just sitting in a boardroom and coming up with ideas.

Vodacom chatted to customers and found three key areas to focus on: connectivity, service and value.
Tayob says they’ve addressed these areas, through a R12-billion investment in the network infrastructure over the next 12 months, launched an Ask Once improved customer service experience, and value through its data bundles.
Vodacom has already invested R1.165 billion this year on its network upgrades, where over R400m went to the Free State & Northern Cape on new sites and radio infrastructure and power back up for load shedding.
Over R330m was spent in the Eastern Cape for more coverage in rural areas and network capacity expansion; and over R435m in Northern Gauteng and the North West for 4G and 5G rollout with a focus on capacity, coverage and resilience.
“Our purpose is to connect people for a better future, and that means understanding the realities our customers face. Whether it’s through exceptional data deals, meaningful rewards, or sustained investment in network quality and community development, we’re committed to delivering value that makes a real difference in people’s lives,” says Tayob.
2025 Extra Your Summer Deals
The 20GB for R99 hero deal includes 7.5GB anytime data, 7.5GB NightOwl data, 5GB YouTube data, plus two months of YouTube Premium, and 100 VodaBucks (worth almost R200).
The USSD menu data deal by dialling *133# will have 15GB for R99, which includes 5GB anytime data, 10GB NightOwl and 5GB free YouTube data, plus 100 VodaBucks.
The retail offer for a R29 once-off recharge that comes with 20GB of data, broken down by 10GB anytime and 10GB NightOwl, plus a 12-month Prime Video Mobile Edition subscription, and 3GB of data for 12 months.
One contract, new or existing customers can take advantage of its 200GB monthly SIM only offer for just R299/pm, which comes with 5GB bonus data, a MiFi dongle, and two months of YouTube Premium. The data is split into 100GB anytime and 100GB NightOwl.
VodaBucks Rewards Programme + WIN
Vodacom’s summer campaign is tied around using the VodaPay app where customers can win prizes daily or use USSD to participate on *133# from now until 6 February 2026.
Both options are zero-rated as customers don’t need data to access them and play and in addition to the free daily plays, VodaBucks can be used for additional plays.
Prizes range from cash to fuel to fashion vouchers and free drinks or donuts. A grand prize of R 1 000 000 in cash will be awarded to eight winners; R50 000 in VodaBucks for 100 winners, and a year’s worth of fuel or data and a daily Coca-Cola giveaway.
Daily rewards include lifestyle vouchers for groceries, fashion, and travel, exclusive partner discounts via Vodacom’s new postpaid tiering system, and Achiever goals to unlock mystery rewards.

Vodacom says VodaBucks earned through the campaign can be banked weekly, spent on essentials, or converted directly into cash via the VodaPay wallet, making every interaction count.
Postpaid customers will get access to a tier rewards system, like eBucks and Vitality, and will be awarded based on spend, like Silver, Gold and Diamond. The higher the tier, the better the discount and lifestyle benefits, through exclusive partner offers.
Mathys Venter, Managing Executive for Loyalty and Prepaid at Vodacom South Africa says they wanted to find new and unique ways to add value to their customers.
“We want to differentiate beyond mobile, so it’s not just about the minutes, the megabytes and the network, but how do we add value to our consumers’ lives?”
He hopes that the new campaign and data deals will entice new customers to join Vodacom and explains that even if one owns a 2G device, they can access the loyalty programme through USSD.
Summer deals can also be access through the *123# USSD menu. Venter says some elements from the summer campaign may be extended and some may become a permanent fixture.
Beyond a summer campaign
The telecoms giant says its summer rewards are part of a broader commitment to support South Africans through meaningful connectivity, affordability, and empowerment.
“Our purpose is to connect people for a better future, and that means understanding the realities our customers face,” adds Tayob.
“Whether it’s through exceptional data deals, meaningful rewards, or sustained investment in network quality and community development, we’re committed to delivering value that makes a real difference in people’s lives.
That’s why we’ve accelerated 4G and 5G rollout in underserved areas, trained thousands of young people through our Youth Academy, and helped connect hundreds of schools with free internet and devices. From smart metering partnerships that create local jobs to disaster relief efforts and digital literacy programmes for female farmers, our focus is on building lasting impact where it matters most.”
The VodaPay app is available through the Apple App Store, Google Play Store and Huawei App Gallery.
