Thule Car Seat Launch

Thule’s new car seat collection was recently launched in South Africa. We were present at the launch last week in Johannesburg and had a first look at what they call state-of-the-art safety but also innovation.

By entering the car seat category Thule now offers a full product portfolio from life’s very first adventure, ensuring a seamless journey for a growing family, from outdoor adventures to everyday journeys.

It only seemed fitting that I attended the launch with the new addition to my own growing family.

For car seats, the most important aspect lies in safety, and safety has been part of the Thule DNA for over 80 years. But safety isn’t just about crash test performance; it begins with the initial installation, something most parents struggle with.

The car seat system by Thule offers clarity, simplicity, and reassurance to parents through its intuitive design and innovative Thule SenseAffirm System.

Both the infant (Thule Maple) and toddler seat (Thule Elm) are equipped with Thule Impact Protection System that shields from side, rear and front impacts, offering all-around head protection for little one’s.

Its EasyDock technology makes it easy to mount the car seat to the base which is especially important for infant car seats to not disrupt a baby’s sleep. Its intuitive cone-shaped interface makes seat installation virtually effortless. Dock the seat at any angle from the car door, rotate to lock it in, and you’re ready to go.

Admittedly, I was quite impressed with the simple and easy installation process of the Thule Elm toddler seat  demoed at the launch. The collection is now available to purchase in-store and online with a wide range of accessories to make every journey simpler and more enjoyable.

When it comes to choosing a car seat, as a parent, it’s important to:

  • Find a car seat that fits your lifestyle and your child
  • Ensure the car seat / travel system is the right fit for your vehicle
  • Consider and select the correct seat direction ie. rear-facing or front-facing
  • Consider the weight and height of your growing child

As the temperatures drop and the puffy coats come out here in the Southern hemisphere, there’s one cold-weather parenting pitfall that often flies under the radar – bundling kids up too much in the car seat.

It’s tempting to strap your little one in while they’re cozied up in a thick jacket, but those layers can prevent the car seat straps from fitting snugly and safely. Dress your child in a light jacket or sweater before buckling them in. Once they’re secure, you can layer a warmer coat or blanket over the top to keep them toasty without compromising safety.

It’s a small tweak that makes a big difference, and one that could help keep your child safer all season long.

All items can be found on the Thule South Africa website.
