The Stocard loyalty app has been discontinued after racking up millions of users. I received messages over the last while in panic about what to do, I’ve been a long time fan of Stocard and reviewed it in 2016.
The good news is that Stocard has been integrated into Klarna since it was acquired by the company back in 2021. While Stocard doesn’t work anymore, you can simply download the Klarna app to get going.
The Klarna app in other countries offer a range of other payment and financial services but in South Africa, it’s just a loyalty card wallet for now. It’s available on the South Africa app stores for iOS and Android.

You can use the same credentials you had for Stocard to sign into Klarna. I also set up a passkey for my phone so I don’t have to worry about typing in my password on my device. It is optional but makes things easier if you have long complicated passwords.
I found when I moved to Klarna, my cards didn’t carry over, so I tried to add as many as I could but it’s such admin intensive task that I still need to sit and every single hotel group I have a loyalty account with, plus airlines.
However, I have loaded my South African loyalty cards for supermarkets and retailers mostly. It has options for pharmacies, clothing stores, grocery stores, restaurants, the gym, car rentals, toy shops, pet shops, book shops, etc. And of course, airlines and hotels chains.
You don’t need the card to be “supported” on the app either, you can manually add any card info. So even if you have the most obscure loyalty card, you can load it onto the digital wallet.
Klarna How To
STEP 1: Log into your app and you will be on the Wallet page
STEP 2: Click the + button on the top right
STEP 3: Either search by name, scroll or choose “other card”
STEP 4: Add it by scanning a barcode, or manually typing your number in and store name
That’s it, now all your cards are in one location.
Bonus: You can take pictures of the front and back of the card in question if you feel better. This option is available when you go into each card loaded.
Setting aside about 20 minutes to load all your cards should be worth it instead of carrying all of them around in your bag. I haven’t looked back since switching in 2016. I rarely carry a physical wallet unless I’m traveling locally to show ID and internationally if I need a credit card.
