Oppo Reno14 now in SA

Oppo South Africa recently celebrated five years in South Africa at an intimate media dinner and unveiled the Reno14.

Oppo currently has a 3.13% market share in SA, for the period July 2024 to 2025, according to StatsCounter Global Stats. It is in sixth place, behind Samsung, Apple, Huawei, Honor and Xiaomi.

Its newest addition, the Reno14, is priced at R19 999 on prepaid. It comes in two colours: an iridescent mermaid finish and a green shade.

Reno14 – Ultimate Party Phone

Oppo describes the handset as the “ultimate party phone” through its AI Flash Photography, a 6000mAh battery and an 80W SuperVooc fast charging.

Bradley Young, Head of Retail at Oppo South Africa says: “The Reno14 5G reflects Oppo’s focus on relevance for South African consumers. It delivers real improvements in low-light imaging, battery endurance, and fast charging features that matter in people’s daily lives.”

Its AI Flash Photography with a triple flash system is aimed at conditions like dimly lit concerts, rooftop sunsets or bustling dance floors, says the company.

Its camera features a 50MP telephoto shooter with 3.5x optical zoom, an 8MP ultra-wide camera and a 50MP main camera. It shoots video in 4K and the selfie-cam is 50MP.

Other AI features include AI Editor, AI Gaming and Google Gemini built-in. AI-enhanced tools let users tweak lighting, background and composition automatically for sharing in real time, through AI Perfect Shot and AI Recompose.

The handset is 7.42mm thin and weighs 187g. Its 6.59-inch display has ultra-thin bezels with 120Hz screen refresh rate and a FHD+ resolution.

It is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 8350 chipset, 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. It supports dual SIM on the 5G network with one eSIM slot. The Reno14 carries an IP69 rating for dust and water resistance.

Its 6000mAh with Oppo’s proprietary fast charging takes it from 1-100% in 48 minutes.

ColorOS 15 includes operating system level AI, such as translations, voice scribe, call translator, and call summaries. It also includes three month access to Google AI Pro with 2TB of cloud storage.

The Reno14 is currently bundled with an Oppo 11″ Pad Neo tablet and Enco Buds3 on a Vodacom Red Core plan for R1109 per month for 36 months, otherwise its prepaid price is R19 999.
