Sumarie Greybe, co-founder of Naked says the artists have created stunning artworks that capture how our partners are shaping a better South Africa.

“We love how these beautiful artworks bring the causes to life and help people to connect with the groundbreaking organisations and the dedicated people who work tirelessly to uplift communities and create a brighter future for all.”

The Naked Difference came about because unlike traditional insurers, Naked charges a flat fee to cover its running costs, with the rest of the premiums going into a shared pool to pay claims, it says.

“At the end of each financial year, any surplus funds left in the claims pool are donated to causes chosen by customers through the Naked Difference — ensuring that surplus funds support positive change in South African communities rather than adding to company profits.”

For 2025, Naked has earmarked R1.1 million for these causes and communities, chosen by customers. Since 2020, Naked has now donated a total of R4.3 million through the Naked Difference, supporting a growing network of local organisations. [Ed: Nafisa Akabor is a paying customer of Naked and has selected TEARS as her preferred charity organisation].

“Our business model is based on shared value and the idea that insurance should be more transparent, digital, and socially conscious. Because we don’t profit from the claims pool, customers know they’ll never have to fight for a valid claim and they get to be part of something that gives back to the causes and communities they care about. By being intentional with their choices,  customers can make a tangible difference and help to build a more sustainable, fair, and compassionate world,” says Greybe.
