Meta has collaborated with Ethnikids to introduce an educational comic book for online safety aimed at South African teenagers. The #EbaSafeOnline comic book is a guide for the youth to navigate the digital world responsibly, and is a free download.
The comic book is written in collaboration with author and anthropologist Lebohang Masango and illustrated by Mfundo Ndevu.
It is available in the 11 official languages of South Africa, and can be accessed on the Meta South Africa Family Centre (here) and the My Digital World website, which already provides resources for both youth and adults.
Print copies of the comic book will be distributed across schools in South Africa in collaboration with partners like Digify Africa, says Meta.
Oluwasola Obagbemi, Corporate Communications Manager at Meta says the launch of this comic book is a first of its kind in South Africa by Meta.
It demonstrates Meta’s concerted effort towards fostering a safer online environment for young individuals. The book not only impacts crucial tips for parents to engage with their teens but also emphasizes the importance of maintaining an open dialogue about online safety.
