Meta is testing its AI-powered chat features on Instagram and Whatsapp to select users in Africa, and India. This is according to a TechCrunch report.
As a user of WhatsApp and Instagram from Johannesburg, South Africa, I noticed these featured rolled out within the last week.
Most of the commands I typed on WhatsApp did not work, I received a “your message cannot be delivered” with a long automated chat reply. Weirdly, it also said my message was not sent.
However, it is working via Instagram DMs and here’s how you can use it.
You can simply go it into the DM chat with Meta AI and ask it first to give you /ai-options or to come up with images using /imagine as the prefix.
I used the following commands to generate these images:
/imagine a black cat with Apple headphones; /imagine there’s no countries; /imagine there was equality for all; /imagine there’s no heaven; /imagine all the people living life in peace; /imagine a binary star solar eclipse; /imagine a princess of bubble gum; /imagine when pigs fly; /imagine there is no violence in the world.
I also asked it these, which it couldn’t generate:
The feature is still being tested and only one of my Instagram accounts got access to it.
