With the 2024 season ending, we’re all getting our notes app ready to journal our reflections and resolutions. For many creators, growing on social media remains at the top, but what about those who started late or didn’t start at all?
Is that resolution to “start creating content” going to make a comeback, or are we letting it go?
I’m Yenzi, I started intentionally creating content in 2018 with a YouTube show about young entrepreneurs called Starting and Succeeding (I’ve made it private, lol).
My goal was to spotlight young people doing incredible things with technology despite knowing little about editing or production.
My first video was shot on a Samsung A7 and edited in Movie Maker, and the audio was terrible. But what I loved most about that period was discovering how powerful simply starting could be.
That experience taught me I didn’t need much to bring my ideas to life—just resourcefulness and a passion for storytelling. I was 21 and still in university, but the skills I developed then continue to shape my life today.
Now, I want to empower you to start publishing online, showing you not only why to start but how to do it.
I’ve done everything from podcasts to long-form videos, working on the brand-representing side as a campaign manager and as a content creator on campaigns. In this space, I’ll share the latest in social media, creator tools, and trends for the creator economy.
Creator Trends for 2025
These are three trends within the creator landscape that will rise in 2025:
- WhatsApp channels might be an underdog, but combining them with Instagram stories will be an impactful community-building strategy. Expect creators to use these two for constant communication with their niche communities and to stay at the top of their minds.
- Augmented Reality, with the success of smart glasses like the Ray-Ban Meta, is becoming a game-changer for creators. Creators will increasingly use AR and smart glasses to offer immersive experiences, allowing audiences to join them wherever they go.
- Artificial Intelligence had to make the list as a productivity and business tool for creators. We’re trusting AI more to simplify tasks and bring efficiency to our daily lives. Creators will not only use AI assistants to automate simple tasks but will also use AI to build careers and businesses that run with efficiency.
What I’m loving | What I’m learning |
One of my favorite gadgets this year is the DJI Osmo Pocket 3, a compact, all-in-one camera that makes content creation easy.
Here’s why I’m loving it: 1. This was a great production from DJI because being able to shoot both portrait and landscape with one device is exactly the cost-efficient option that creators need. |
I’ve wanted to try flying a drone for a while, so on my birthday, I got the 998 PRO MICRO FOLDABLE DRONE SET as a birthday gift, and a friend sold me a DJI SPARK to help me get started. I’m embarrassed to say this, but I’ve already broken one of the propellors on the DJI Spark. No one told me how difficult it would be to get started on learning to fly, so I’m going to document and share everything I am learning about flying a drone on my Instagram. |
