Word from Nafisa Akabor:
Recharged is an independent online publication focusing on technology, electric vehicles and the digital life. It is the rebrand and evolution of my long running personal tech blog, Wired to the Web. I’ve been covering business and consumer technology since 2007 and my experience in the local EV landscape started out in 2017 when I actively began mapping out charge points.
Topics that I’m passionate about include smartphones, EVs, mobile payments, the smart home, start-ups, privacy and security, fitness gadgets and travel tech.
I started freelancing as a technology journalist in 2012; my work appears on various platforms like print, online, radio, TV and podcasts. I also offer consulting services in the UX, EV and tech space.
My judging gigs include the South African Car of the Year Juror 2023; the former Cars.co.za Consumer Awards; judging the SA leg of the global TADHACK hackathon; MTN Business App of the Year; the GirlCode Hackathon; and Entelect’s in-house Tech Accelerator initiative.
In 2017, I was selected as one of the top 50 women in tech in South Africa by the Kingdom of the Netherlands as part of its inaugural #CoCreateSANL Inspiring Fifty Awards.
